Bearcats drop 4-3 home decision to Limestone

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's tennis team won the doubles point for the third time in as many matches, but dropped a 4-3 decision to Limestone on Saturday afternoon at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.

The Bearcats (3-5) got things rolling with a superb effort in doubles. Playing without a No. 3 pairing, Eduarda Ferreira and Isabella Schulz earned a 6-1 win at No. 1 and Manasi Ramadani and Lindsey Wiggins gutted out a 7-5 win at No. 2 to give Lander the first point of the day.

Limestone (1-3) responded with three straight singles wins before Wiggins pulled the Bearcats within a point with a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 3. Ferreira rallied to win at No. 1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, to tie the score, but Lander was forced to forfeit the No. 6 spot due to a lack of healthy players, giving the Saint a 4-3 victory.

The Bearcats hit the road this weekend, traveling to Georgia College for their conference opener on Friday and facing Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday.
