GREENWOOD – Lander freshman Abby Killian has been named as the Peach Belt Conference's Pitcher of the Week after a successful debut at the Gulf Shores Invitational.

Killian pitched 14.2 innings for the Bearcats in four appearances, earning two wins and posting a 0.95 ERA. She allowed just three unearned runs with 11 strikeouts in a complete-game win in the season opener against Shorter. She struck out two in 1.2 innings against West Florida and earned a win with an inning of scoreless relief against West Georgia. She came out of the bullpen to toss 5.0 innings against No. 11 Alabama Huntsville.

Killian is the first freshman in program history to earn PBC Pitcher of the Week honors. 

The Bearcats host Emmanuel on Tuesday afternoon in a doubleheader at 3:00 p.m.
