SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Lander women's tennis team defeated Converse 5-2 on Tuesday in the Bearcats' final match before beginning conference play. 

Lander (3-4) handed Converse (6-3) its first loss since Sept. 21. The Bearcats secured the doubles point after Eduarda Ferreira and Isabell Schulz won 6-0 at No. 1, and Nelli Lius and Lindsey Wiggins captured a 6-0 victory at No. 3. 

Lius gave Lander a 2-0 lead after a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles and Ferreira followed by matching 6-1 scores at No. 1. Wiggins clinched the win with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 4. Manasi Ramadani also notched a win on the day, winning 6-1, 7-6 at the No. 6 spot. 

Lander travels to Augusta Friday for its Peach Belt Conference opener at 2:30 p.m.
