No. 21 Bearcats fall in PBC Tournament title match

EVANS, Ga. – The No. 21-ranked and second-seeded Lander men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to fourth-seeded Francis Marion on Sunday afternoon in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship match at Blanchard Woods Park. 

The Bearcats (12-5-2) were appearing in their fifth consecutive tournament title match. Francis Marion (15-4-1) notched its first PBC Tournament title since 2008. 

FMU took the lead when Juan Fernandez curled a shot from outside the box into the top left corner of the goal, putting the Patriots up 1-0 at the 4:03 mark.

Lander held a 17-7 shot advantage in the match, including an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. Cole Hunter made one save for the Bearcats, while Maximiliano Rocco recorded eight saves for the Patriots. 

George Knight, Max McNulty, and Grant Wagner were named to the PBC All-Tournament team.
