No. 10 men's soccer battles Queens to 0-0 draw in non-conference bout

Box Score

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 10th-ranked Lander men's soccer team withstood a weather delay and double-overtime to battle Queens to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night.

The Bearcats (6-0-1) saw their six-match winning streak snapped by the Royals (5-1-1), but continued their seven-match unbeaten streak to begin the season, the longest for the program since 2015. The 0-0 result marked the first scoreless tie for Lander since Oct. 29, 2014, against North Georgia.

Queens outshot Lander 9-6, while the Bearcats held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks. Making his second career start, Jacob Withers tallied a career-high two saves on the night, including one in the 105th minute.

The match was delayed due to weather for 30 minutes late in the first half.

The Bearcats next travel to PBC rival USC Aiken on Saturday, Sept. 29, for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
