GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Lander women's tennis team picked up its first shutout of the season on Monday as the Bearcats blanked Limestone, 6-0, in a road non-conference match.
Lander (5-9) took control of the match with three doubles points, led by an 8-1 effort from Nelli Lius and Lindsey Wiggins at No. 2. Limestone (4-8) stayed close at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, but fell 8-7 in both contests.
Leading 3-0, the Bearcats put the Saints away with wins at No. 4, 5 and 6. Isabella Schulz earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 as Lander did not drop a set on the day.
The Bearcats look to build on the win Tuesday as Lander travels to North Greenville.
