Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Lander softball team pounded out a season-high 13 hits in game one of its Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against Flagler on Saturday as the Bearcats split with the Saints to close out a four-game road trip.

The Bearcats (15-7, 3-1 PBC) took game one, 8-6, before falling to Flagler (12-13, 2-2 PBC) in game two, 7-4.

Lander started fast in game one, as Halie Sorrow walloped a three-run homer in the top of the first. Flagler answered with a solo shot in the bottom of the first, but the Bearcats responded with a solo homer of their own from Kasey Rogers and an RBI single from Chandler Carey in the top of the second inning.

Carey drove in another run in the top of the fourth and Brianna Surrento followed with a sacrifice fly to push Lander's lead to 7-1.

The Saint managed another solo home run in the bottom of the fifth, but the Bearcats got the run back on an RBI double from Surrento in the sixth inning.

Flagler rallied late with a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth and a two-run triple in the seventh, but Lander held on to take game one and stay unbeaten in league play.

McKenzi Ferguson (10-2) earned the win, allowing six runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and five walks in a complete-game effort. Flagler's Ally Marcano (5-6) took the loss for the Saints, surrendering five runs on four hits in 1.1 innings.

The Bearcats struck first in game two on an RBI double from Kelli McCormack in the third inning. Flagler answered with a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth, then broke the game open with six runs in the sixth inning.

Lander attempted a comeback in the seventh as Rogers singled home Jamie Pisel and Sydney Grimes connected for a two-run double, but the Bearcats could not complete the rally.

Surrento (4-3) was charged with the loss, allowing seven runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks in 5.2 innings. Kaitlyn McCue (7-7) earned the win for the Saints, allowing four runs on five hits in 7.0 innings.

The Bearcats return home on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader against Newberry.
