Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – The Lander men's basketball team could not overcome a USC Aiken offense that shot 51.7 percent on the night as the Bearcats' three-game winning streak came to a halt with an 89-52 loss to the Pacers on Saturday night.
The Bearcats (11-15, 7-13 PBC) made just 2-of-15 three-point attempts, while USC Aiken (14-10, 11-9 PBC) made 14 three-poniters and held a 44-34 edge on the glass.
Srdjan Ivic led Lander with 14 points, while Sergio Smith and DeShundre Rucker each collected seven rebounds.
The Pacers held a slim 24-21 lead with 6:25 left in the first half following a pair of Jordan Dingle free throws, but seized control with a 20-6 run to end the half.
Lander never pulled closer than 13 points in the second half as USCA used 14-3 spurt early in the half to put the game out of reach.
The loss puts Lander one game out of the eighth and final seed in the Peach Belt Conference tournament with two games remaining in the regular season. The Bearcats return to Horne Arena for Senior Night on Wednesday against North Georgia at 7:30 p.m.
