GREENWOOD –  The second-seeded Lander women's soccer team suffered a penalty kick defeat at the hands of seventh-seeded Georgia College on Tuesday night in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals at Van Taylor Stadium. 

Lander (12-2-2) now waits to see if it will earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Georgia College (10-5-4) will face sixth-seeded Young Harris in the semifinals of the PBC Tournament. 

Neither the Bearcats nor Bobcats could find a goal in regulation or overtime, as both Sarah Owen and Ashlee Graham made five saves. 

Both teams traded penalty kicks through the first two rounds as Juliette Vidal and Victoria Lange scored for Lander, while Unnbjorg Omarsdottir and Madi Diaz Granados converted for Georgia College. After Graham saved Hannah Sinner's attempt, Hannah Cowan kept the score tied with a save against Sofia Lekas for the Bearcats. Kelcie Fisher's attempt hit the crossbar and Lydia Atkinson scored for the Bobcats to put Georgia College ahead. Needing a save to end the match, Graham got a piece of Brennen McCarthy's shot to send the Bobcats to the semifinals. 

Georgia College held an 18-16 lead in shots, while the Bearcats attempted five corner kicks to GC's one. Lander was called for 21 fouls in the match, while the Bobcats were whistled 16 times.
