GREENWOOD – The Lander women's soccer team secured a top-four seed in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and a home match in the quarterfinals with a 3-0 win over Francis Marion on Wednesday night at Van Taylor Stadium.

Lander (11-2-1, 6-2-1 PBC) completed the first unbeaten home regular-season slate in program history and earned its third consecutive win over the Patriots (5-9-1, 2-7 PBC)

"It was a good effort from the girls, they worked really hard," said head coach Chris Ayer. "They did a good job in the final third. You have to credit the goalkeeper from Francis Marion, she made a lot of really good saves. The first time being undefeated at home in the regular season is a really big deal, so we're very proud of these girls."

The Bearcats got on the board after several scoring opportunities throughout the first period. In the 30th minute, Le Franc took a pass outside the box from Emily Jermstad and created space before unfurling a shot that slipped under the crossbar for her first score of the season. 

Le Franc struck again in the 70th minute, when Brennen McCarthy's free kick was headed high by Kelcie Fisher in the box. The ball was controlled by Le Franc, who fired into a open spot on the right side of the net. 

Juliette Vidal put the exclamation mark on the win when she finished an Emily Jermstad cross in front of the net at the 80:32 mark. 

Sarah Owen collected three saves in the win, while FMU's Rachael Hennenkamp tallied 10 saves for the Patriots. 

Lander will travel to Georgia Southwestern for its final match of the regular season on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
