GREENWOOD – The fourth-ranked Lander men's tennis team picked its fifth consecutive win on Saturday afternoon when the Bearcats downed Auburn Montgomery, 5-4, in a non-conference match.
Lander improves to 6-2 overall, while Auburn Montgomery falls to 5-2.
In singles, No. 1 Matias Destefanis (AUM) def. David Korsten (LU), 7-6, 6-3; No. 2 Vincent Dubosclard (AUM) def. Jules Vauthier (LU), 6-1, 3-6, 7-5; No. 3 Eirik Groner (LU) def. Francisco Mendieta (AUM), 6-3, 6-0; No. 4 Alvaro Terron (AUM) def. Ozan Cildir (LU), 5-7, 6-0, 6-2; No. 5 Alexandre Springer def. Birkir Gunnarsson (AUM), 7-5, 6-1; and No. 6 Omar El-Moslemany (LU) def. Santiago Veglia (AUM), 7-5, 6-1.
In doubles, No. 1 Dubosclard/Gunnarsson (AUM) def. Marc Hofer/El-Moslemany), 8-6; No. 2 Korsten/Groner (LU) def. Mendieta/Terron (AUM), 8-6; and No. 3 Vauthier/Cildir (LU) def. Destefanis/Veglia (AUM), 8-2.
Lander will travel to face No. 6 Columbus State at 2:00 p.m, on Tuesday.
