Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

GREENWOOD – The Lander softball team dropped a pair of Peach Belt Conference games on Saturday afternoon against Flagler at Doug Spears Field, falling to the Saints by scores of 9-0 and 6-4.

Flagler improves to 22-15 overall and 5-3 in PBC play, while the Bearcats move to 10-20, (2-6).

In the first game, Flagler's Ally Marcano (17-4) earned the win after striking out three, walking three and allowing just two hits in five innings.

Lander's Brianna Surrento (3-7) took the loss, walking five and allowing eight runs on five hits in 3.2 innings.

Flagler took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a home run from Mackenzie Conley. The Saints put two more on the board in the third as Alli-Ann Bigale drove home Maria Kappos on a groundout and a double from Maddy Murphy scored Megan Miller.

A six-run fourth inning from the Saints put the game away, as Lander was unable to plate a run over the final two innings, resulting in the game being called after five.

For Lander, Destiny Clyde batted 2-for-2.

In the second game, the Saints' Katelynn Smith (4-6) was awarded the win after striking out three and allowing just four hits in 6.2 shutout innings of relief

The Bearcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single from Chandler Carey, a bases-loaded walk to Kelli McCormack and a two-run double from Casey Kent

Flagler responded with a four-run fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Garland Evans that evened the score at 4-4 and forced extra innings

Neither team scored over the next three frames, but a dropped fly ball with two outs in the ninth allowed Megan Miller to score the go-ahead run for the Saints. Natalie Murphy added an insurance run by driving home Whitney Woodard on a single to right field to make the score 6-4 Flagler.

Lander's McKenzi Ferguson (5-10) took the loss with three strikeouts, five walks and six runs on 11 hits in nine innings.
