GREENWOOD – Breshay Johnson posted a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds as Peach Belt Conference East Division champion Lander tuned up for the PBC Women's Tournament with an 86-52 victory over Georgia College Wednesday night at Horne Arena.

The Bearcats used a pair of 12-0 runs, cruising to victory in their regular season finale on Senior Night. Lander outscored the Bobcats 51-22 in the second half, improving to 22-6 overall, 15-4 in the Peach Belt.

Georgia College fell to 15-11 overall, 9-10 in the PBC.

Lander has now won three consecutive PBC East titles.

These two teams will meet yet again Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in Horne Arena in the first round of the Peach Belt Tournament as the East No. 1 seed Bearcats entertain West No. 4 seed Georgia College.

If Lander wins Saturday, the rest of the Peach Belt Women's Tournament will take place at Horne Arena.

Johnson posted yet another double-double for the Bearcats, leading them in both points and rebounds. The junior forward made eight of 11 shots from the floor and eight of 10 free throws.

Mylea McKenith scored 18 points for Lander while the team's only senior, Ty'hesha Reynolds, added 17 points. Reynolds is second on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,601 points, trailing career leader Shannon McKever by 143 points.

Kyra Wilson added nine points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes of action for the Bearcats. Victoria Baldwin contributed nine rebounds, Reynolds led Lander with seven assists and McKenith added six assists.

The Bearcats outscored Georgia College 25-12 in the third quarter and 26-10 in the fourth.

Veronica Ryan paced the Bobcats with 12 points, making four of six shots from 3-point range. Ta'Asia Wright led the visitors with seven rebounds while Brianna Davis paced them with five assists.

Georgia College led 10-2 on Wright's layup with six minutes left in the opening period and 14-9 on Dail Adaway's jumper at the three-minute mark. Reynolds made a 3 with seven seconds left, tying the game at 14 after one quarter.

The Bobcats took a 25-18 advantage on Ryan's basket with 5:17 left in the second period and were again up by seven on Alyah McGriff's bucket, making it 30-23 with 3:17 to go.

But Lander closed the first half on a 12-0 run, mostly on free throws, for a 35-30 lead at the break. Reynolds and McKenith made three free throws apiece while Johnson added a pair.

Davis's 3 pulled Georgia College within 39-35 with 6:51 left in the third quarter. But the Lady Bearcats followed with another 12-0 run, started by Wilson's put-back, followed by another Wilson layup, a pair of 3s by McKenith, and a Johnson layup for a 51-35 advantage at the 3:36 mark.

Baldwin hit a pair of 3s as Lander built leads of 54-40 at the two-minute mark and 60-42 on her buzzer beater going into the final quarter.

The Lady Bearcat lead grew to 20, 62-42, on Wilson's basket in the paint in the opening minute of the fourth period.

Lander played all freshmen in the final minutes and Alexius High took advantage, making a pair of late 3s. Although it was actually Senior Night, freshmen Wilson, High, Destinee Langford, Jessica Harris, Tabitha Dailey, Cameron Davis and Jona'e Lee enjoyed playing time.
