Box Score 2 TIGERVILLE, S.C. – North Greenville hit three home runs on the day and surrendered just three earned runs en route to a doubleheader sweep against Lander Saturday afternoon night at Jan MacDonald Field. NGU won both games, 4-2.
North Greenville improves to 9-7 overall, while Lander moves to 4-6.
In the first game, North Greenville's Brooklyn Fort (5-1) earned the complete-game win, striking out five, walking two and allowing one earned run on three hits.
Lander's Brianna Surrento (2-3) was tagged with the loss after giving up four runs, three earned, on seven hits.
The Bearcats scored first on an RBI single from Destiny Clyde that plated Halie Sorrow in the top of the second. North Greenville pulled even in the third inning on an error that scored Heather Wade.
Kate Lee put the Crusaders on top in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double and a two-run homer from Shayna Finley in the fifth made it 4-1 North Greenville.
A solo home run from Logan Leverette in the top of the sixth ended the scoring.
In the second game, Amanda Coffrin (4-4) was awarded the win after striking out seven and allowing two earned runs on nine hits in the complete seven innings.
McKenzi Ferguson (2-3) took the loss, after striking out two and allowing four earned runs on seven hits in seven innings.
Finley put NGU up 1-0 in the first inning with her second home run of the day and a RBI double from Celsea Rivers in the third made it 2-0 Crusaders.
Lander rallied in the top of the fourth on an RBI double from Madison Moore that drove in MaKenzie Smith. Kelli McCormack followed with a single through the right side to score Moore and tie the game at 2-2
North Greenville answered in the bottom of the fourth on Morgan Herlong's solo home run. The Crusaders pushed the lead to 4-2 in the sixth on a sac fly from Herlong that plated Samantha Anthony.
Shorter made it 11-1 in the third after Kayla Cooper scored on a bases-loaded walk and Christensen drove in Castaneda.
Moore and Reychel Webster both had two hits for the Bearcats.
