Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Lander men's basketball team had nine different players score on Saturday afternoon, but the Bearcats fell to Augusta, 82-66, in a Peach Belt Conference game at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Augusta improves to 21-6 overall and 13-5 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 10-16, (7-10).
TJ Knight tied his career-high with 12 points to lead Lander, while Clenzo Ross added 15 points and two steals, and Telvin Gabriel 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Augusta was led by Keshun Sherrill's 29 points. Tamyrik Fields added 12 points and Aaron Byrd scored 10 points.
The Bearcats connected on 26-of-50 floor shots (52 percent), including 4-of-14 three pointers (28.6 percent), and 10-of-14 foul shots (71.4 percent).
The Jaguars, who led 41-29 at halftime, made 29-of-54 floor shots (53.7 percent), including 8-of-18 threes (44.4 percent), and 16-of-18 free throws (88.9 percent).
Lander built an 18-13 lead with 11:13 to go in the first half after a Srdjan Ivic layup, but the Jaguars ended the half on a 28-11 run to take a 12-point lead to the locker room.
The Bearcats were unable to cut the lead to single digits in the second half as Augusta pulled away.
