GREENWOOD – The Lander women's tennis team began the season with a win in its home opener against Newberry, 7-2, in a non-conference match at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.

Lander improves to 1-0 overall, while Limestone slips to 1-3.

In singles, No. 1 Yuriko Ono (LUW) def. Amanda Carrillo (NBY), 6-3, 6-2; No. 2 Elizabeth Williamson (NBY) def. Caroline Yodice (LUW), 6-2, 6-1; No. 3 Ivanka Mocic (LUW) def. Lucia Davia (NBY), 6-1, 6-1; No. 4 Nelli Lius (LUW) def. Rebeca Martinez (NBY), 6-2, 6-7, 10-5; No. 5 Julia Suzuki (LUW) def. Kelly McManus (NBY), 6-3, 6-3; and No. 6 Isabella Schulz (LUW) def. Veronika Viegas (NBY) 6-2, 6-4.
