FLORENCE, S.C. – Kari George netted a career-high two goals and Logan Lewis added two assists on Thursday night as Lander defeated Francis Marion, 4-1, for its first Peach Belt Conference win of the season.

Lander improves to 2-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the PBC, while FMU drops to 0-9, (0-4).

George gave Lander a 1-0 lead at 5:53 and found the back of the net for the second time off a Logan Lewis assist at the 33:14 mark to increase the Bearcat lead to 2-0.

Lander netted two more goals in a 37-second span, as Emily Jermstad scored her first career goal off another assist from Lewis at 39:38 and Kirsty Ellinger followed with her first goal of the season at 40:15.

Francis Marion got on the board in the second half on a Tori Whigham goal at 65:37.

Lander outshot Francis Marion, 27-4, and led in corner kicks, 10-1.

Francis Marion goalkeeper Casey Murakami tallied 10 saves.

The Bearcats travel to Columbus State on Saturday, October 1.
