Box Score MORROW, Ga. - Two first half goals were enough to push the Clayton State women's soccer to a 3-0 victory over Lander on Saturday night in the Peach Belt Conference opener for both squads.
Clayton State improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the PBC, while Lander falls to 1-4, 0-1.
Tovin Saleh gave the Lakers a 1-0 lead at 22:04 after finding the back of the net on a free kick.
Clayton State stretched the lead to 2-0 minutes later when Maria Marti Bartis lofted a shot into the net at the 29:01 mark.
Denisha Paskell netted the final goal of the match off a pass from Marti Bartis at 64:35 to extend the margin to 3-0.
Clayton State outshot Lander, 16-8, whiel Lander led in corner kicks, 5-2.
Megan Wiley grabbed three saves for the Bearcats, while Shannon DeSantis made two stops. Clayton State's Jessica Charman had four saves on the night.
Lander returns home to host Flagler for a PBC contest at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, at Van Taylor Stadium.
