Box Score MORROW, Ga. – The Lander men's soccer team netted three goals in six minutes during the first half Saturday night to give the Bearcats a 3-1 win in their Peach Belt Conference opener against Clayton State.
With the win, Lander improves to 2-3 overall, 1-0 in PBC play, while Clayton State drops to 1-5, 0-1.
The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead at 16:51 when Hugo Delhommelle scored his third goal of the season.
George Knight netted his first career goal at 19:43 to push Lander's lead to 2-0 and Jamie North followed with his first goal of the year at 22:43 off an assist from Delhommelle to give the Bearcats a 3-0 advantage.
Ryan King prevented the shutout with a goal for Clayton State at 55:14.
Lander outshot the Lakers, 19-8, while both teams attempted six corner kicks.
Bearcat goalkeeper Dean Cowdroy had six saves, while Clayton State's Leuri Fraire tallied four.
Lander hosts Flagler at 7:30 on Thursday at Van Taylor Stadium.
