WINGATE, N.C. – Two second half goals from Brooke Howell allowed the Wingate women's soccer team to pull away from Lander as the Bearcats fell, 3-0, in a non-conference match on Saturday night.

Lander falls to 1-3, while the Bulldogs improve to 2-1-1. 

Taylor Krakower gave Wingate a 1-0 lead at the 10:22 mark. The Bearcats stayed within striking distance before Howell's goals at 73:46 and 79:49 put the match out of reach.

Columbus outshot Lander, 16-4, and led in corner kicks, 4-2.

Lander goalkeeper Shannon Desantis grabbed five saves, while Wingate's Alexis Jones had two.

The Bearcats begin Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday at 5:00 P.M. against Clayton State.
