GREENWOOD - The fifth-ranked Lander men's tennis team won its sixth consecutive match Sunday afternoon after defeating Young Harris, 8-1, in a Peach Belt Conference match at The Joe Cabri Tennis Center.
The Bearcats improve to 14-2 overall and 9-1 in the PBC, while Young Harris drops to 10-9, 1-7.
In singles, No. 14 nationally ranked Marc Hofer (LU) def. Brecht Vangrinsven, 6-3, 7-6 at No. 1 singles, and Lander's ninth ranked Chris Devoize downed Young Harris' Daniel Tiboldi, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 2. In other singles matches, No. 3.David Korsten (LU) def. Alex Pavel (YHC) 2-6, 6-1, 10-3; No. 4 Alejandro Ridruejo (YHC) def. Ozan Cildir (LU) 6-3, 2-6, 10-5; No. 5 Alexandre Springer (LU) def. Jan-Niklas Graetz (YHC) 6-1, 6-2; and No. 6 Paul Arslanian (LU) def. Raul Quevedo (YHC) 6-2, 4-1, retired.
