MORROW, Ga. - The Lander women's tennis team won its third straight match Saturday afternoon when it defeated Clayton State, 6-3, in a Peach Belt Conference match.
Lander improves to 8-9 overall and 2-9 in the PBC, while the Lakers drop to 5-13, 2-9.
In singles, No. 1 Raluca Pavel (C) def. Ivanka Mocic (L) 6-3, 6-0; No. 2 Yuriko Ono (L) def. Kristiin Mets (C) 6-1, 6-1; No. 3 Darina Drozdova (C) def. Anni Poikola (L) 5-7, 6-0, 10-4; No. 4 Caroline Yodice (L) def. Alina Ageichik (C) 6-0, 6-3; No. 5 Lauren French (L) def. Carolina Monterrubio (C) 6-2, 6-1; and No. 6 Renata Mello (L) won by default.
In doubles, No. 1 Raluca Pavel/Kristiin Mets (C) def. Yuriko Ono/Anni Poikola (L) 8-1; No. 2 Ivanka Mocic/Lauren French (L) def. Darina Drozdova/Alina Ageichik (C) 9-7; and No. 3 Maggie Elliott/Renata Mello (L) won by default.
Lander will next play at the University of Montevallo at 12 p.m., Sunday.
