Box Score 2 GREENWOOD - The Lander softball team rallied from a four-run deficit to take the second game, 7-4, and earn a non-conference doubleheader split against North Greenville Monday evening at Doug Spears Field. The Crusaders won the first game, 5-4, in eight innings.
Lander moves to 15-11 overall, while North Greenville is now 13-8.
In the first game, Anna Rogers (3-0) earned the win with one strikeout, two walks and one hit in 1.2 innings in relief.
Lander's McKenzi Ferguson (10-6) took the loss with one strikeout and two earned runs on four hits in three innings of work.
Kelli McCormack's RBI single to right field plated Dariean Ward, who had three doubles on the day, to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
North Greenville came back to tie the game at 1-1 on Celsea Rivers' RBI single in the third.
The Bearcats' Kacey Rogers drove in Ward in the third to put Lander back up, 2-1, but North Greenville erupted for three runs in the sixth to go up 4-2 on RBI singles by Morgan Herlong and Megan Johnson, and Jordan Farmer's sacrifice bunt.
Lander forced the game into extra innings after tying the game at 4-all in the seventh when Ward drove in Reychel Webster with an RBI double and McKenzie Smith went home on a bases-loaded walk.
The Crusaders won the game in the eighth on Herlong's RBI single to left field that plated Kate Lee.
For Lander, Ward, Chandler Carey and Rogers had two hits apiece, while North Greenville's Greer Killman, Herlong and Johnson had two hits each.
