GREENWOOD - The Lander women's tennis team swept the doubles matches and won three of six singles Thursday afternoon to claim a 6-3 non-conference match against Newberry at The Joe Cabri Tennis Center.

Lander remains unbeaten at 2-0, while Newberry slips to 5-1.

In singles, No. 1 Elizabeth Williamson (N) def. Yuriko Ono (L) 6-2, 2-6, 6-3; No. 2 Vanessa Ortiz (N) def. Ivanka Mocic (L) 6-3, 6-2; No. 3 Amanda Carrillo (N) def. Anni Poikola (L) 7-5, 2-6, 6-2; No. 4 Caroline Yodice (L) def. Tara Lamers (N) 6-2, 6-1; No. 5  Lauren French (L) def. Paula Avellan (N) 6-2, 2-6, 6-2; and No. 6  Renata Mello (L) def. Rebeca Martinez (N) 7-5, 6-3.

In doubles, No. 1 Maggie Elliott/Ivanka Mocic (L) def. Amanda Carrillo/Vanessa Ortiz (N) 9-7; No. 2 Yuriko Ono/Caroline Yodice (L) def. Elizabeth Williamson/Tara Lamers (N) 8-3; and No. 6 Lauren French/Renata Mello (L) def. Rebeca Martinez/Paula Avellan (N) 8-3.
