AUGUSTA, GA. - Tobiasz Hose scored 16 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds as the Lander men's basketball team earned a 72-64 Peach Belt Conference win over Augusta at Christenberry Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

Lander improves to 11-4 overall and 5-1 in the PBC, while the Jaguars drop to 7-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Hose, who connected on 5-of-12 field goals and 5-of-6 free throw attemps, also led the Bearcats with three assists. J.R. Washington added 16 points, while Sergio Smith and Rahu Purdie each netted 12 points.

Keshun Sherrill paced Augusta with 17 points, while Tamyrik Fields added 11 points. Tyvez Monroe scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Lander took the lead for good on a Scott Elder jumper to give the Bearcats a 15-14 lead with 8:47 remaining in the first half of play. Hose gave Lander a 33-25 advantage with a layup in the final second of the half.

The Jaguars cut the lead to 46-43 with 10:34 to go, but Lander answered with a 10-2 run, culminating with a three-pointer from Washington with 7:22 remaining. Washington hit another trey with 1:22 to go to increase Lander's lead to 70-56, its largest of the game.

For the game, the Bearcats connected on 28-of-61 field goals (45.9 percent), including 7-of-20 threes (35.0 percent) and 9-of-10 foul shots (90.0 percent).

The Jaguars were 22-of-51 from the floor (43.1 percent), including 7-of-19 three pointers (36.8 percent) and 13-of-27 free throws (48.1 percent).
