Box Score GREENWOOD - JR Washington netted a game-high 30 points and led four Lander players in double figures Saturday afternoon en route to the Bearcats fourth straight win, a 97-84 Peach Belt Conference victory over North Georgia at Horne Arena.
Lander, which travels to Francis Marion on Wednesday for a PBC contest, improves to 16-5 overall and 10-2 in the PBC, while North Georgia sinks to 4-17, 2-10.
Washington connected on 11-of-17 field goals, including 6-of-10 three pointers, and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free throw line. Tobiasz Hose added 19 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Rahu Purdie had 11 points, and Sergio Smith 10.
Juan Rivas posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Nighthawks. Tanner Piemmons added 17 points, T.J. Williams 15 points, and Roderick English 12 points. Ebo Smith chipped in a game-high seven assists.
The Bearcats connected on 39-of-71 field goals (54.9 percent), including 11-of-17 threes (64.7 percent), and 8-of-11 foul shots (72.7 percent).
North Georgia, which outrebounded Lander, 34-32, was 32-of-64 from the field (50 percent), including 9-of-21 from the three-point line (42.9 percent), and 11-of-15 from the free throw line (73.3 percent).
The Bearcats led at halftime, 46-40.
Lander stretched its halftime advantage to 15 points at 69-54 with 10:23 left in the game and led by double figures the remainder of the contest.
The Bearcats largest lead came with 2:52 remaining when a Washington three put Lander up 91-71.
