Box Score GREENWOOD – The Lander women's basketball team fired in 24 points in the fourth quarter Saturday afternoon and cruised past Flagler College, 74-61, in a Peach Belt Conference game in Horne Arena.
The Lady Bearcats improve to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the PBC, while Flagler sinks to 4-6, 0-3.
Ty'Hesha Reynolds led the Lady Bearcats with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Bre Crum added 17 points, six rebounds and five assists, and Breshay Johnson 10 points and four rebounds.
The Saints placed four player in double figures led by DeAhsa Campbell's 16 points. Teosha Ray and Litisha Speights both posted double-doubles as Campbell had 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Speights 14 points and 13 rebounds. Allie Mano chipped in 11 points.
Flagler, which led 34-33 at halftime, won the battle of the boards, 50-40.
The Bearcats held a slim 50-45 lead going into the fourth quarter and quickly stretched the margin to 14 points when they went on a 11-2 scoring spree to extend their lead to 61-47 on a Lea Petit layup with 6:41 remaining in the game.
Flagler cut the margin to nine points on two occasions, 65-56 with 3:55 remaining to play and 66-57 at 3:30. From there, Lander's Jada Wallace converted on a three-point play and Johnson made a layup to go up 71-57 with 2:32 remaining.
The Bearcats connected on 26-of-60 floor shots (43.3 percent), including 4-of-11 threes (36.4 percent), and 18-of-25 free throws (72 percent).
Flagler was 23-of-72 from the field (31.9 percent), including 4-of-20 threes (20 percent), and 11-18 foul shots (61.1 percent).
