Box Score GREENWOOD - After both teams took turns dominating their respective halves Wednesday night, Georgia College's Ragnheidur Bjarnadottir was the difference after she fired in the game winner from 35 yards out with 19 seconds remaining in the first overtime to lead the Bobcats past Lander, 4-3, in a Peach Belt Conference game at Van Taylor Stadium.
Georgia College improves to 4-1-2 overall and 2-0-0 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 3-3-0, 1-1-0. Lander will next host PBC rival USC Aiken at 4:30, Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Van Taylor Stadium.
The Bearcats dominated the first half of play as they took a 3-0 lead.
Alexis Rogers netted the first goal on a penalty kick at 10:43, then Logan Lewis stretched the lead to 2-0 when she fired a shot in from in front of the goal off an assist from Sara Flores at 23:45.
Taylor Piorkowski made it 3-0 right before halftime when she bounced one in from in front of the goal off another assist from Flores at 44:57.
GC quickly retaliated in the second half when Unnbjorg Omarsdottir's goal at 57:32 cut the Bearcat lead to 3-1.
The game got a little more interesting at 71:07 after Sol Baldassini made a shot from outside the box to make it 3-2.
Unnbjorg Omarsdottir's second goal tied the game at 3-all at 76:14. Ragnheidur Bjarnadottir was credited with the assist on all three of those goals for the Bobcats.
Lander outshot GC, 17-14, but the Bobcats led in corner kicks, 9-5.
Both goalkeepers, Lander's Megan Wiley and GC's Ashlee Graham, had four saves.
