Box Score AMERICUS, GA. - Sam Lofts scored twice in the first half on Saturday afternoon as Lander defeated Georgia Southwestern 5-0 in the Peach Belt Conference opener for the Bearcats.
Lofts put Lander ahead on a goal at 23:24, thanks to an assist from Sinclaire Sandy. Just 10 seconds later, Lofts scored again on a rebound to increase the Bearcat lead to 2-0.
Lander controlled the second half with three more goals. Jamie North scored from 30 yards out at 53:15 and Hugo Delhommelle followed with a goal at the 60:56 mark.
Robert Seaton ended the scoring on a goal at 71:02 with an assist from Sia Jamedar.
The Bearcat defense limited the Hurricanes to just four shots on the day and goalkeeper Barrett Nielsen pitched his third shutout in five matches.
Lander improves to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in PBC play, while the Hurricanes drop to 0-3-2 and 0-1-1 in the Peach Belt. The Bearcats travel to Bristol, Tenn., on Wednesday for non-conference match against King at 4 p.m.
