FLORENCE - The Lander volleyball team rallied from two sets down Friday night and opened the Peach Belt Conference portion of their schedule with a 3-2 victory over Francis Marion at the Smith University Center. Match scores were: 22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-12.

Lander, which improves to 8-2 overall and 1-0 in the PBC, travels to UNC Pembroke for a 2 p.m. conference game on Saturday, followed by a 2 p.m. non-conference game against Claflin. Francis Marion drops to 6-3, 0-1.

The Bearcats Khiani Kelly blasted 20 kills, while Halle Dotson added 17 and Tarryn Angermeier 12. Ali Kirk recorded 52 assists and 15 digs, while Julia Ferreira-Alves had 24 digs, Kendall Korte 19 digs, Mallory Taylor 17 and Kaitlyn Harrison 11. Reyonia Whipple led the team in block assists with six.

Francis Marion was led by Caroline Boone (15 kills), Alexzandra Reed (14 kills, 14 digs), Carlie Smith (11 digs), Samantha Hinrichs (27 assists), Carrie McGinnis (26 assists), Georgia Garrison (20 digs), and Shelbi Meet (19 digs).
