Box Score 2 AIKEN - The Lander volleyball team split its Saturday's games against Palm Beach Atlantic and Belmont Abbey at the USC Aiken Invitational in the Convocation Center.
The Bearcats opened the day with a 25-20, 25-21, 25-10 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic, then shut out Belmont Abbey, 25-22, 25-12, 25-21.
Lander improves to 9-2 overall and will next open the Peach Belt Conference portion of its schedule next weekend with games at UNC Pembroke and Francis Marion.
Against Palm Beach Atlantic, Kendall Korte registered eight kills and 10 digs, while Khiani Kelly added eight kills, Sophia Perkins 17 assists, Julia Ferreira-Alves 25 digs and Mallory Taylor 10 digs.
Palm Beach Atlantic was led by Sarah Ragland (10 kills), Ally Rohn (21 assists, 16 digs), Alexandra Roberts (19 assists), Rachael Holehouse (23 digs), and Faith Rohn (10 digs).
Against Belmont Abbey, Korte recorded 13 kills and nine digs, while Perkins added 16 assists, eight digs and four service aces, Ali Kirk 10 assists, and Ferreira-Alves 25 digs. Reyonia Whipple and Tarryn Angmermeier were dominant at the net with seven and five total blocks respectively.
Belmont Abbey was paced by Hannah Schellenberg (11 kills, 15 digs), Gabby Martinez (22 assists, 16 digs), and Sarah Kenney (15 digs).
