PEMBROKE, N.C. - The No. 29 Lander women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches en route to defeating UNC Pembroke, 6-3, Tuesday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference match at the Varsity Tennis Center.
Lander finishes the regular season 8-7 overall and 5-6 in the PBC, while UNC Pembroke drops to 6-15, 1-12.
In singles, No. 1 Leigh-Anne McAfee (UNCP) def. Marion Courbis (L) 7-6 (3-0), 6-3; No. 2 Elise Sancelme (L) def. Kelsey Vanquaethem (UNCP) 6-4, 6-2; No. 3 Anni Poikola (L) def. Shelby Bickel (UNCP) 7-5, 6-3; No. 4 G. van Ooststroom (UNCP) def. Ivanka Mocic (L) 1-6, 2-2, retired; No. 5 Alyssa Savill (L) def. Monica Espitia (UNCP) 6-0, 6-1; and No. 6 Morgan Sheehan (UNCP) def. Lori Flick (L) 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 (8-0).
In doubles, No 1 Marion Courbis/Renata Mello (L) def. Shelby Bickel/Leigh-Anne McAfee (UNCP) 8-6; No. 2 Elise Sancelme/Alyssa Savill (L) def. G. van Ooststroom/Kelsey Vanquaethem (UNCP) 8-3; and No. 3 Maggie Elliott/Ivanka Mocic (L) def. Monica Espitia/Morgan Sheehan (UNCP) 8-6.
