The contest is a Peach Belt Conference game that was chosen by CBS Sports Network. It will be one of five nationally televised Division II men's regular season basketball games in 2014-15. In addition to the live broadcast on CBS, the game will stream live on NCAA.com and the NCAA Sports mobile app, and regional affiliates will also be offered syndication.
"I think this is not only great exposure for Lander University and Georgia Regents University and their respective men's basketball teams, but it is a wonderful experience for our student-athletes," said Lander Athletics Director Jeff May.
The game will serve as a highlight of GRU's Military Appreciation Week. The university will honor members of the United States Armed Forces for their service to our country before, during, and after the game. There will be hundreds of active and retired military personnel in attendance from Fort Gordon military base. Military Appreciation Day festivities will take place during the men's halftime.
Halftime features and game storylines will be Division II driven by the schools, the conference and the NCAA. A video highlight package and game recap will be featured on NCAA.com after the conclusion of the Lander-GRU contest.
"We are grateful to CBS Sports Network for allowing us to be a part of their television schedule this year," said GRU Director of Athletics Clint Bryant.
The game is the third PBC men's basketball contest to be carried nationally by the CBS Sports Network. Georgia Regents also hosted the first nationally-televised game back in 2010 against Montevallo. Montevallo then hosted Clayton State in a CBS game during the 2012-13 season. The PBC has also had two women's games receive national coverage.
