Box Score GREENWOOD - Tobiasz Hose posted a double-double, while JR Washington netted a game-high 21 points Saturday afternoon to lead the Lander men's basketball team to a 68-56 non-conference victory over Livingstone College during second day action of the Finis Horne Holiday Classic at Horne Arena.
Lander improves to 5-2 overall and will host rival Erskine at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2, in Horne Arena. Livingstone drops to 1-5 overall.
Washington connected on 5-of-14 from the field, including three treys and 8-of-15 from the foul line. Hose netted 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Travis Fredimon had 12 points and Sergio Smith seven boards.
Jimmy Wilson led Livingstone with 12 points, while KJ Langley had 11 points, and Cordero Holt nine points and 11 rebounds.
The Bearcats, who led 26-21 at halftime, outrebounded the Blue Bears, 42-38.
After Robert Flint's three-pointer cut the Bearcat lead to 39-34 with 11:23 left to play, Lander went on a 9-0 run to build a 48-34 advantage on a Washington layup with 9:20 left to play. Lander stretched the gap to 55-38 on a pair of Fredimon free throws at 4:17.
For the game, Lander connected on 19-of-50 field goals (38 percent), including 4-of-16 threes (25 percent), and 26-of-43 free throws (60.5 percent).
Livingstone was 16-of-49 from the field (32.7 percent), including 6-of-24 threes (25 percent), and 18-of-32 foul shots (56.3 percent).
