Lander women's soccer ties Armstrong, 1-1, in double OT

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Lander women's soccer team battled Peach Belt Conference rival Armstrong State to a 1-1 double-overtime tie Saturday afternoon in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Lander moves to 7-7-1 overall and 5-5-1 in the PBC, while Armstrong is now 11-3-3, 7-1-3. The brackets for next week's PBC Tournament will be announced later today (Oct. 31).

The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead after Logan Lewis netted her eighth goal of the season at 75:18.

Armstrong came back to force the overtime after Jenny Allen fired in a score off an assist by Olivia DeJone at 86:06.

The Pirates outshot Lander, 6-1 in the first overtime, and 9-0 in the second.

For the game, Armstrong had 39 shots, compared to Lander's nine, and the Pirates led in corner kicks, 20-4.

Bearcats goalkeeper Megan Wiley totaled 13 saves, while Armstrong's Morgan Luckie had four.
