GREENWOOD - Julia Ferreira-Alves and Sophia Perkins each posted a double-double Wednesday night, but it wasn't enough as the Lander volleyball team fell to Francis Marion, 3-2, in a Peach Belt Conference match at Horne Arena. Game scores were: 17-25, 25-20, 14-25, 25-23, 15-12.

FMU improves to 14-10 overall and 7-6 in the PBC, while Lander slips to 20-9, 8-5.

Ferreira-Alves had 13 kills and 19 digs, while Perkins had 20 assists and 11 digs. Halle Dotson added 11 kills, Khiani Kelly 11 kills, Ali Kirk 27 assists, Kendall Korte nine kills and 20 digs, and Mallory Taylor 33 digs. Reyonia Whipple led the Bearcats in blocks with one solo and eight assists.

Francis Marion was paced by Alexzandra Reed (15 kills, 22 digs), Caroline Boone (14 kills, seven block assists), Carlie Smith (13 kills, 20 digs), Carrie McGinnis (24 assists, 10 digs), Samantha Hinrichs (19 assists), Shelbi Meek (28 digs), and Georgia Garrison (13 digs). Kadeeja Griffin and Garrison chipped in four block assists each.

Lander will next host the University of Montevallo in a PBC contest at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30 in Horne Arena.
