Box Score GREENWOOD - The No. 25-ranked Lander men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season Monday afternoon after the University of Montevallo rallied with a pair of Josh Keller's second-half goals within a 42-second span to claim a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference victory at Van Taylor Stadium.
Montevallo improves to 4-7 overall and 2-4 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 9-1, 4-1.
Lander eased out to a 1-0 lead at 55:35 when Steven Gonzalez fired in an unassisted goal from the top of the box.
The Falcons tied the game at 1-all after Keller found the back of the goal from the right side off an assist from Steven Rocca at 73:29.
Keller's game winner was on a shot from 30 yards out off a pass from Soham Kathuria at 74:11.
Lander outshot the Falcons, 25-6, but Montevallo led in corner kicks, 4-2.
Montevallo goalkeeper Yannic Horne tallied nine saves, while Lander's Barrett Nielsen had one.
The Bearcats will next host Wingate University in a non-conference game at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Van Taylor Stadium.
