GREENWOOD - Taylor Hurst made a rainy day bright for the Lander women's soccer team Saturday afternoon when she scored the game's lone goal to give the Lady Bearcats a 1-0 Peach Belt Conference victory over Clayton State at the rain-soaked Van Taylor Stadium.

Lander improves to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the PBC, while the Lady Lakers drop to 7-5, 3-3.

Hurst's goal, her first of the season, came at 56:13 off an assist from Kirsty Ellinger.

Clayton State outshot Lander, 18-14, and both teams recorded three corner kicks.

Bearcats' goalkeeper Shannon DeSantis and Clayton's Charlotte McCormack tallied eight saves each.

Lander will next host the University of Montevallo in a PBC makeup game at 1 p.m., Monday, at Taylor Stadium.
