GREENWOOD - Hugo Delhomelle scored the lone goal of the game Saturday to lead the No. 25-ranked Lander men's soccer team to a 1-0 Peach Belt Conference victory over rival Clayton State at a very wet Van Taylor Stadium.

The Bearcats improve to 9-0 overall and 4-0 in the PBC, while the Lakers slip to 6-3-1, 2-2-0. The shutout was the fourth of the season for the Bearcats.

Delhommelle fired in a shot from in front of the goal off a pass from Sam Lofts at the 16:58 mark. The goal was Delhommelle's fifth of the season, while Lofts' assist was his second.

Lander outshot the Lakers, 20-15, and led in corner kicks, 8-5.

Bearcat goalkeeper Barrett Nielsen had six saves, while Clayton State's Viltsu Tuumi registered eight.

Lander will next host the University of Montevallo at 3:30 p.m., Monday, in a PBC makeup game at Taylor Stadium.
