Box Score FLORENCE - Tobiasz Hose, Kiair Crouch and JR Washington scored 15 points each Wednesday night to lead the Lander men's basketball team to a 67-49 Peach Belt Conference victory over Francis Marion at the Smith University Center.
Lander improves to 15-4 overall and 7-4 in the PBC, while FMU drops to 9-11, 1-10.
In addition to 15 points, Washington added 10 rebounds and four assists, Hose nine rebounds, and Crouch six steals.
Dii'Jon Allen Jordan posted a double-double for FMU with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Detrek Browning and A.J. Jackson added 10 points apiece.
The Bearcats, who led 30-20 at halftime, connected on 21-of-53 field goals (39.6 percent), including 5-of-15 threes (33.3 percent), and 20-of-23 free throws (87 percent). The Bearcats outrebounded the Patriots, 45-37.
FMU made 16-of-58 floor shots (27.6 percent), including 3-of-21 three pointers (14.3 percent), and 14-of-23 foul shots (60.9 percent).
Lander led early throughout the first half and built its first double-digit lead when Scott Elder's layup gave the Bearcats a 23-13 advantage with 5:37 left until intermission.
Hose's tip-in with 17:00 left in the game put the Bearcats up 38-26, but the Patriots battled back to within six at 38-32 with 14:44 remaining.
Lander followed with a 10-0 run to stretch its margin to 16 points (48-32) with 12:59 left on Crouch's three-point play.
Washington gave the Bearcats its biggest lead at 18 points, the final margin, when he connected on a pair of free throws with 48 seconds remaining.
Lander will next travel to North Georgia on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. PBC contest.
