GREENWOOD - Elias Hatungimana took a pass from Ian Rosas and scored the game-winning goal in the 66th minute Saturday night to lead the No. 13 Lander men's soccer team to a 2-1 non-conference victory over Lenoir-Rhyne at the Jeff May Complex.

Lander starts the season off at 1-0, while Lenoir-Rhyne drops to 0-1-1.

Christoph Krekeler gave the Bearcats at 1-0 lead at 19:37 when he found the back of the net off an assist from Luis Zuluaga.

The Bears tied it at 1-all on Eric Elder's shot from the right side of the goal. He was assisted by Ben Jones.

Lander outshot Lenoir-Rhyne, 10-7, and led in corner kicks, 5-0.

Lenoir-Rhyne goalkeeper Jorge Hernandez totaled four saves, while Lander's Barrett Nielsen had four.

The Bearcats next travel to North Greenville on Wednesday, Sept. 10 for a 7 p.m. non-conference game.
