Box Score PEMBROKE, N.C. - The Lander volleyball team claimed its Peach Belt Conference opener and stretched its season-opening, school-record to a 10-0 start Thursday night in a 3-1 victory over UNC Pembroke.
Game scores were 25-19, 25-19, 24-26, 25-18. UNC Pembroke drops to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in the PBC.
The Bearcats' Kendall Korte led the way with 18 kills and nine assists, while Tarryn Angermeier added 17 kills, Sydney Tracy 13 kills, Jessica Register a double-double with 55 assists and 14 digs, Julia Ferreira-Alves 20 digs, Kaitlyn Harrison 11 digs and nine kills, and Sarah Bradley 18 digs.
The Braves were led by Nicole Mathews (15 kills, 22 digs), Jada Vernon (12 kills, 10 digs), Caroline Pridgen (11 kills), Cecilia Brandon (10 kills), Sabrina Gonzalez (41 assists, 21 digs), and Ka'Asha Jeffries 15 digs.
Lander will next host USC Aiken at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, in a PBC match in Horne Arena.
