Box Score 2 GREENWOOD – The Lander softball team suffered another doubleheader loss Wednesday afternoon when the Bearcats fell to North Greenville 8-1 in the first game and 6-0 in the nightcap at Doug Spears Field.
North Greenville improves to 21-12, while Lander falls to 6-34.
In the first game, North Greenville's Cassi Carpenter (3-4) earned the win with two walks and one earned run on four hits in four innings.
Lander's Tyler Riendeau (0-8) took the loss with five walks, and four earned runs on five hits in six innings pitched.
North Greenville took a 2-0 lead in the first inning after Carpenter singled in Megan Johnson, and Sarah Armstrong scored on an error.
Lander cut the margin to 2-1 in the bottom half of the inning on Aubrey Lamar's RBI single that plated Lindsay Newman.
Christie Reilly gave North Greenville a 3-1 lead in the second when she scored on a wild pitch, then the Crusaders added another run in the third on Megan Steading's RBI double.
Jordan Farmer's three-run homer in the fourth inning gave the Crusaders a 7-1 advantage, then Shayna Finley followed with a solo shot in the fifth.
For Lander, Destiny Clyde and Melanie Davis had two hits each.
In the second game, the Crusaders' Rachel Glazebrook (12-6) picked up the win with 10 strikeouts, two walks and four hits in the complete-game shut out.
The Bearcats' Amanda Chastain suffered the loss, striking out one and allowing four earned runs on seven hits in two innings.
North Greenville took a 1-0 lead in the first after Johnson went home on a wild pitch, then extended the margin to 4-0 in the second after a two-RBI single by Armstrong and an RBI single by Glazebrook.
The Crusaders added two more runs in the fifth when Glazebrook went home on an illegal pitch and Farmer doubled in Morgan Roach.
Glazebrook led North Greenville with three hits, while Roach added two.
Lander's Chasity Davis had two hits.
