Box Score 2 GREENWOOD – Tyler Riendeau earned her first victory of the year Thursday night as the Lander softball team snapped a 27-game losing streak and split a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against USC Aiken at Doug Spears Field. Lander won the second game, 2-1, after losing the first game, 3-0, in nine innings.
Lander improves to 7-39 overall and 1-17 in the PBC, while USCA moves to 30-13, 13-7.
Riendeau (1-9) struck out three, walked one and allowed one earned run on four hits in the complete seven innings.
Taylor Morgan (9-10) suffered the loss with six strikeouts, seven walks and two earned runs on three hits in six innings.
Lander took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Reychel Webster's solo home run over the left field fence, then made it 2-0 in the second when MaKenzie Smith drove in Melanie Davis.
The Pacers cut the margin to 2-1 in the fourth on Ashley Mett's RBI double that plated Samantha Chubb.
In the first game, USCA's India Kornegay (21-3) earned the win, striking out 15, walking five and allowing three hits in the complete nine innings.
Lander's M.K. Pegram (1-15) was tagged with the loss after striking out seven, walking four and allowing one earned run on five hits in nine innings.
After eight scoreless innings, the Pacers claimed the win after Metts drove in Sarah Montei with a single to left field, followed by Alyssa Cook's RBI single to right field that sent Victoria Burkett and Makenzie Barbor across the plate.
