NEWBERRY – The Lander women's tennis team won two of three doubles matches and claimed five of six singles Thursday afternoon en route to a 7-2 non-conference victory over Newberry College.

Lander improves to 9-3 overall, while Newberry slips to 9-5

In singles, No. 1 Susana Aguirre (N) def. Marion Courbis (L) 6-2, 6-3; No. 2 Carolina Lainez (L) def. Romina Adum (N) 6-1, 6-2; No. 3 Ivanka Mocic (L) def. Vanessa Ortiz (N) 6-3, 2-6, 7-5; No. 4 Tiffany Vanhpraseuth (L) def. Tara Lamers (N) 6-2, 6-4; No. 5 Alyssa Savill (L) def. Ariel Strong (N) 6-0, 6-3; and No. 6 Cayce Bradley (L) def. Marina Ziehe (N) 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles, No. 1 Carolina Lainez/Cayce Bradley (L) def. Susana Aguirre/Romina Adum (N) 8-4; No. 2 Vanessa Ortiz/Marina Ziehe (N) def. Renata Mello/Marion Courbis (L) 8-2; and No. 3 Tiffany Vanhpraseuth/Alyssa Savill (L) def. Tara Lamers/Ariel Strong (N) 9-8.
