Box Score 2 SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Lander softball team blasted three home runs in the first game, but No. 4-ranked Armstrong Atlantic rallied for a 4-3 Peach Belt Conference win and a doubleheader sweep against the Bearcats. The Pirates won the second game, 8-0, in five innings.
Armstrong improves to 21-5 overall and 6-0 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 6-20, 0-4.
In the first game, the Pirates Olivia McLemore (14-2) earned the win with seven strikeouts, one walk and three earned runs on five hits in the complete seven innings.
Lander's M.K. Pegram (1-7) took the loss with two strikeouts, six walks and one earned run on six hits in six innings.
Aubrey Lamar gave Lander a 1-0 lead with a second-inning home run, then the Bearcats stretched the lead to 2-0 on Destiny Clyde's solo shot over the right centerfield fence in the third.
The Pirates trimmed the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning on Lacye Walker's RBI single that plated Alexis Mercer, but Lander came back with Emily Marousek's leadoff homer in the fifth to go up 3-1.
Armstrong took its first lead of the game at 4-3 in the fifth after Kat Vogler hit a three-run homer over the left field fence.
Chasity Davis had two hits for the Bearcats.
In the second game, Armstrong's Jane Trzaksa (5-1) gave up just one hit while striking out two and walking one in five innings.
Lander's Taylor Crawford (3-7) suffered the loss with three strikeouts, one walk and four earned runs on two hits in 2.1 innings.
Andrea Dalton led off the scoring with a second-inning home run. The Pirates extended the margin to 4-0 in the third on Peyton Roth's two-RBI triple and Hannah Reppert's RBI bunt single
Armstrong added one run in the fourth on Rachel Reynolds' RBI single and three in the fifth on RBI singles by Dalton and Kacie Patterson, and another run that scored on a Lander fielding error.
