Box Score FLORENCE – Michael Panaggio scored 24 points and dished off six assists Saturday afternoon to lead four Lander men's basketball players in double figures in an 88-74 Peach Belt Conference loss at Peach Belt Conference foe Francis Marion University in the regular-season finale at the Smith University Center.
FMU improves to 12-14 overall and 8-11 in the PBC, while Lander slips to 17-11, 11-8. Lander will next play in the PBC Tournament, March 6-9, at Columbus State University. The brackets will be announced later today.
Panaggio connected on 7-of-13 field goals, including 5-of-10 threes, and all five of his free throws. Dermaine Smith added 15 points and nine rebounds, Jareal Smith 14 points, and Mike Lee 12 points.
Evrik Gary led FMU with a game-high 34 points, while Trevonte Dixon added 15 points and eight rebounds, Dustin Jones 13 points, and Robert Carpenter 11 points and seven rebounds.
Lander connected on 23-of-56 field goals (41.1 percent), including 9-of-23 threes (39.1 percent), and 19-of-26 free throws (73.1 percent).
The Patriots made 28-of-61 floor shots (45.9 percent), including 9-of-28 three pointers (32.1 percent), and 23-of-28 foul shots (82.1 percent).
Lander led 35-32 at halftime, while the Patriots won the rebounding battle, 37-33.
