Box Score 2 GREENWOOD – The Lander softball team dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader against Anderson University Thursday afternoon at Doug Spears Field.
Anderson remains unbeaten at 10-0, while Lander moves to 2-10.
In the first game, Anderson's Lauren Rudesheim (5-0) earned the complete game win on the mound after striking out three and allowing just five hits.
Lander's Tyler Riendeau (1-1) took the loss, striking out one and allowing six earned runs on seven hits in 1.2 innings.
Anderson took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on RBI singles by Danielle Swygert and Laura Jansky, and a sacrifice fly by Courtney Czentnar. The Trojans stretched the lead to 6-0 in the second on Abby Child's three-run homer over the centerfield fence.
In the second game, Katelyn Howser (3-0) picked up the win, striking out three and allowing just one hit.
Lander's Taylor Crawford (1-4) suffered the loss, striking out five and allowing eight earned runs on two hits in 2.1 innings.
Jessica Neidigh gave Anderson a 1-0 lead in the first when she scored on a bases-loaded walk.
The Trojans exploded for eight runs in the third inning. Abby Child made it 2-0 with her second homer of the day, a solo shot over the right field fence, then Swygert went home on a hit by pitch, Czentnar scored on a bases-loaded walk, Bri Cason crossed the plate on another hit by pitch, Molly Child's two-RBI single plated Rebecca Martin and Howser, and Abby Child doubled in Molly Child and Neidigh.
Czentnar's solo homer in the fourth gave Anderson a 10-0 advantage, then Howser scored from third on a Lander error.
