Box Score GREENWOOD - After defeating Columbus State in a five setter on Friday night, the Lander volleyball team suffered a 3-2 heartbreaking loss to the University of Montevallo on Saturday in a Peach Belt Conference match in Horne Arena. The Falcons prevailed, 25-22, 19-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-9.
Montevallo improves to 18-10 overall and 9-6 in the PBC, while Lander slips to 20-7, 8-7.
Tarryn Angermeier had a team-high 19 kills and eight blocks for Lander, while Kendall Korte (18 kills, 17 digs) and Jessica Register (56 assists, 17 digs, three service aces) had double-doubles. Sydney Tracy chipped in 12 kills, Julia Ferreira-Alves 22 digs, Sarah Bradley 15 digs and Kaitlyn Harrison 14 digs.
Montevallo was paced by Rebekah Phelps (19 kills, 15 digs), Kristy Bohan (19 kills), Katie Best (16 kills), Hannah Christie (46 assists, 12 digs), Briana Marquez (26 assists), Carissa Bell (34 digs), Sarah Guidry (17 digs), and Nicole Horton (15 digs).
The Bearcats travel to USC Aiken on Tuesday, Nov. 4 for a PBC contest in the Convocation Center.
