Box Score GREENWOOD - Kimberly Kesler netted a hat trick Wednesday night to lead the Lander women's soccer team to a 7-1 non-conference victory over Anderson University at Van Taylor Stadium.
Lander improves to 5-2-3 overall, while Anderson drops to 4-7-1.
After Taylor Hurst gave Lander a 1-0 lead at 7:43 off a Kesler assist from in front of the goal, Kesler scored the first of her three goals at 13:21 on a 25-yard shot off an assist from Fayla Junior.
The Bearcats stretched their lead to 3-0 on Kesler's unassisted goal at 46:58.
Anderson trimmed the lead to 3-1 at 60:54 on Faith Johannes 30-yard blast.
Junior then found the back of the net after going one-on-one with Anderson goalkeeper Sadie Lancaster at 67:41. Logan Lewis was credited with the assist.
Kesler notched her third goal of the game on a pass from Victoria Lange at 69:17. The Bearcats scored their final two goals when Hilary Ferguson fired in a shot from in front of the goal at 77:17 and Miranda Barker scored off an assist from Hannah Martin at 88:47.
Lander outshot the Trojans, 18-7, and led in corner kicks, 3-1.
Starting goalkeeper Katie Lyle had two saves for the Bearcats, while Anderson's Sadie Lancaster had three.
Lander will next host Flagler College at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, in a Peach Belt Conference game at Van Taylor Stadium.
